6bta air intake heaters 330hp

My alternator is getting very hot at idle due and the alternator is trying to pump out 115amps while idling to supply power to the heater intake grid. I have to travel about 10 minutes at 4 knots to get out of the speed restriction zone by then the alternator is very hot. The heater grid seems to have 2 circuits is it possible to disconnect only 1 heater or better to disconnect both? If it is ok to disconnect 1 only do you suggest to remove the positive from the contactor coil?

Put the heater control circuit on a simple switch (well  under 10 amps)  at the dash. This has been posted in various places on this web site when discussing the grid heater circuit and your specific concerns.
