While trolling at idle for salmon 5 days ago, the engine abruptly stopped. The engine cranks but no start. Trouble shooting thus far:
    1. Both fuel tanks nearly full
    2. No water in the Racor bowls
    3. Battery voltage before start attempt: 13.2
    4. Voltage at the fuel shutoff solenoid: 10.6
    5. Removed & inspected the fuel shutoff solenoid: no obvious damage
    6. Bench tested fuel shutoff solenoid with a new 9 volt battery: the plunger retracted promptly
Next step suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Squeeze Bulb Fuel System Priming

Glad you got it..The CAV/Delphi fuel system is very hard to prime following typical guidelines.. Set up right, a common squeeze bulb is an amazing but simple tool to get up & running if you’ve run out of fuel.

    Update #2

So, you pulled the solenoid and removed the spring & plunger and re-installed.. GOOD..

As to re-priming, this pump can be a challenge without a priming bulb and/or an electric pump..

The fuel flow is so low, just install a high quality 3/8ā€³ squeeze bulb in a convenient spot in-line with no bypass, and prime away .. If you had a clear return line, you should ā€œseeā€ fuel coming out of it..

100% Throttle ā€“You may have to crack 2 easy to get to injection lines to prime and initially start on 2-cylindersā€“It will clear, eventually .. Not like a Bosch 6BTA system.

If it does not pump fuel to the injectors, the shaft broke (or ??) inside the pumpā€“I have see it..

    Tony

I installed a squeeze bulb in the fuel line and pumped it until hard. With the throttle at WOT and 2 of the injection line nuts cracked open, the engine started.
Photos of the squeeze bulb installation are attached to this post.
    Thanks Tony for your suggestions.

    Update

    Tony:
Yes; my injection pump fuel solenoid looks like your picture. The fuel injection pump face plate contains the following info:
    Brand: Lucas
    Type: 1330
    Part #: 3369F330X
I removed the piston/spring from the fuel solenoid and replaced the empty solenoid. The engine cranks but does not start after 3 tries with WOT.
My next step is to install a squeeze bulb fuel line primer the “Seaboard Way” and attempt to start the engine again. Pictures are attached.
If my next step is unsuccessful, what should I try next?
    Thanks

Just to make sure….tie – wrap the fuel solenoid in the activated/pull-in position and try cranking.
