The air filter on my 1994 6B5.9-M is mounted on top where there is little clearance. In looking at similar engines, it seems like the filter should be horizontally mounted. I am unsure about what is proper, but it seems the original would fit better in my case and I don’t know why it was ever changed. I’m missing the specific details in my documentation and have found no help elsewhere. I would like to upgrade the sir filter to a performance filter that I can clean rather than replace for better long distance cruising. Any advice appreciated.

Post some good pictures of what you currently have as to air filter and CCV system.
