Started an 85 mile Gulf Panhandle crossing in 1 to 2 foot seas. Following happened:

Starboard engine went from 1050 rpms to 0 unexpectedly. I did some checks, could find nothing wrong, so I restarted engine. Ran perfectly. No trouble lights on and oil pressure and temperature good.  I have vacuum gages on Racor filters and they looked very good so does not seem like it was fuel starvation

Went up to cruise at 2050 rpms. After 10 miles samething happened a 2nd time. Then a third time after another 5 miles or so.

Then after another 5 miles, Starboard engine went from cruise of 2050 rpm to idle at 600 rpm.  This happened a 2nd time. Had traveled about 30 miles in total so far.

At this point I disabled the engine RPM synchronizer , manually went back to 2050 RPM.  No issues at all for last 50 miles of the trip when I did not use the synchronizer.

    Ideas?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Clark, thanks for the reply.  My problem has changed to a hard failure and I have created a new post for it.

Engine will crank but not start now.

    No one?

I don’t know your  setup at all.

For others you need to be more specific about the engines and the synchronizer.   What exactly do you have?

    Name , serials, models.

These things, synchs,  need solid voltages and CLEAN, SOLID connections to read the engine revs properly and then send  corrections to maintain synch.

If connections or the pins and sockets in plugs are oxidizing that can weaken signals both ways.

Without a lot more understanding on my part the best I can offer is check the supply wiring and the plugs for good, clean and solid connections.    Open the plugs carefully , spray the contacts with something like Corrosion X  and replug.     Just be carefull as bent pins will be trouble.
