    • QSC 8.3 aftercooler bent vanes

      July 25, 2023 at 11:18 am Hey everyone, I have twin 2005 QSC 8.3 engines on my 2005 Sabre 42 Express and Iā€™m doing the aftercooler maintenance on them. One of the cores has some bent vanes that may have happened before or during transport home to my shop to clean. Doesnā€™t look that bad but wanted to know if I should just leave as is or try to do something about it. Leaving for a 3 week trip to The Broughtons Archipelago in BC Canada on 8/2/23 so hoping to get this resolv…

      July 25, 2023 at 1:59 pm I would not worry about those air fins but a pressure test would probably make you sleep better. As long as the heat exchanger is clean and not starting to get a coating / clogging of the arteries you should be good to go.

      November 18, 2019 at 11:14 pm Hey Guys, I have twin QSC 8.3 engines with 1100 hours on my 2005 Sabre 42 and I just found out my starboard engine was missing a bolt that I never noticed before. I usually do an engine check before starting up and noticed exhaust/oil had sprayed out of the missing bolt hole. Thinking it may have vibrated loose, I looked for the bolt but couldn’t find it and took out the adjacent bolt to get a replacement. That is when I realized the missi…
