Externally regulated alternator
This topic has 1 reply, has 2 voices, and was last updated by 3 years ago
October 11, 2020 at 12:33 pm Looking for an externally regulated 160 amp alternator for a 6cta 8.3 cummins 450 CPL 2172. I’m having trouble finding something that that the fan clears the belt tensioner. If the alternator you sell for the 450 can be modified for external regulation, then that would be great. Thanks, Roger
1 ReplyOctober 21, 2020 at 5:17 pm Not sure why you are having fan clearance issues, but any factory Delco 21-22SI will not have those issues unless you have something other than “factory bracketing” and or tensioning components.. Something not stock on the engine? Most any alternator shop can convert the alternator to external sensing if this your wish..

450 diamond turbo oil leak
This topic has 1 reply, has 2 voices, and was last updated by 5 years ago
August 26, 2018 at 5:16 pm Hi, I have a 6cta 8.3 450 diamond with 1700 hours on a 35′ BHM downeast hull. I am getting an oil leak from the connection from the turbo to the pipe to the aftercooler. Tightened clamp, but still slight leak 2200 rpm or greater. Oil level is ok. Any suggestions? Roger
1 ReplyAugust 30, 2018 at 3:07 pm Roger, where exactly is the oil leaking from? Are you getting oil into your aftercooler? Pictures always help with stuff like this so we can all “see” whats going on…

Installing SMX1730 pump
This topic has 4 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated by 6 years ago
April 8, 2018 at 10:52 am Hi, I have ordered and installed a SMX1730 raw water pump on my new to me 2001 Cummins 6 cta 8.3 450. Is the pump bi directional, or is there a specific inlet and outlet port? Hopefully I have not installed it upside down. Still a while in Maine before I can run the engine to check water flow without rewinterizing. Thanks for your help. Roger
