Hard to see much
May 18, 2020 at 8:31 am #97769Photos are tough. Itās on the outboard side. Behind the aftercooler. Behind some wiring. Against the hull. With a mirror I can see it on a couple of the aft pan gasket bolts but it comes from just above the pan. Then it makes its way Aft over to the (Bell housing?) and then down.
May 18, 2020 at 8:24 am #97768I keep a cookie pan under it. Iām guessing one ounce oil every two hours of run time. Thanks rob.
January 11, 2020 at 7:59 pm #88737Im 99 percent sure I got it. Wiring is a fickle bitch. bitch. I ran a new ground from the panel to the gauges. I hope thatās kosher. I guess the 30 foot run back to the engine through the harness was not doing it for me. No more low oil alarms. Volt meter reads 13.5 now instead of 11.5. Thanks everyone!
December 23, 2019 at 10:02 pm #86137I installed good quality mechanical gauges after the cheap ones took a shit. 700 rpm the mechanicals say 25-30. Pilot house and fly both read 5.
I took a new gauge and hooked it to the VDO āDā sender and the battery right next to the sender. All new wire/crimps/gauge/sender. Reads 5.
Granted itās a single gauge on a āDā sender. 5 was not what I was expecting.
Two of my 4 boards I got from you. I believe you changed the alarm so there was not so many false alarms.
December 21, 2019 at 3:10 am #85833corey, in another thread concerning low oil pressure you said…..
“You can place a 10-15 ohm resistor in-line on one of the sending unit wires to bump up the PSI valueā¦ the problem is that the Cummins spec is down to 5-6 PSI at idle but the alarm indicates at 8-10 PSIā¦ hmmmm Who thought of that one?????”
Is this an option if it is my long wire run? 10-15 ohm? how many watt resister?
December 21, 2019 at 2:34 am #85832clark, thanks. I will do it! Definitely a smart try before I buy and install another harness. thanks buddy
December 21, 2019 at 2:32 am #85831Corey, thanks as usual. I will take a better look/clean at the terminals and also take a picture. I did not notice any corrosion and since the problem is both sides and since this seems to have been a problem since new I did not give corrosion much of a thought. I do want to do a quick short run check just to narrow it down. Happy holidays
August 8, 2019 at 11:30 am #76513So after all the dust settled, the company did more than they had to, I’m good. They sent me a new pump. I was way out of warranty but they did more than they had to. They all but admitted fault, we all make mistakes. I still have the labor $ but it could have been worse.
July 7, 2019 at 9:49 pm #74818It was rebuilt just before I bought it so Iām guessing they went cheap. After tear down we found that they used red RTV between the engine block and the gear case. I think a gasket is recommended. Anyway, they filled the oil passage to the fuel injector pump with RTV. 100 percent restricted oil flow to pump. Bosch gets credit for making it strong enough to run 500 plus hours with zero oil lubrication. Iām out of warranty and even if it was still under warranty I would have to remove it from the boat and ship it to Florida for their inspection. Iām guessing Iām out of luck. Looks like a $3000 pump repair and about the same in the labor. Be aware if cheap rebuilders.
