      June 21, 2019 at 5:49 am First, Tony, thank you for the Forum and your continuous support to Cummins owners. Currently, we are cruising our 1997 Tiara Express with 6CTA 8.3 Diamonds from Florida to Maine. Engine hours are now 1,641. The last 255 hours were logged on this trip at 900 – 1100 RPM. Cumulative GPH is 4.0 total for both engines. Question 1: Is there a need to rev or increase RPM daily or occasionally to clear soot? If so, is this done under load or …

      June 23, 2019 at 5:12 pm Denny, If this is how you always run the engines, then I’d do two things…, 1) Change your thermostats to 180F units.. It would be nice to be sure when you run at such low loads, your coolant temps stay above 180F-190F.. 2) Each day or so, I’d run it up to 2000-2200 RPM or so for 2-3 minutes, whether/conditions permitting… Tony

      March 6, 2019 at 6:22 am This post on the forum is to discuss a sudden oil leak on an Onan generator. In my ’97 Tiara I have an Onan MDKWB with 1,330 hours. It has run 151 hours since 2012. Recently replaced two raw water hoses and the Johnson raw water pump (all of which were leaking), and performed oil service with filter using on board oil change system.       March 18, 2019 at 9:27 am You might think about plumbing a coolant loop through a new hot water heater. This will get you really HOT water any time you are running that main engine, and it stays hot for a day or two after you shut it off. Virtually all marine water heaters (Raritan, Seaward, IsoTemp) are available with the coolant loop provision, and I can tell you from experience with our Hatteras 36 that it works very well indeed.
