    • Aetna Tachometers and VHF Noise

October 1, 2018 at 4:46 pm I recently installed a pair of Aetna Tachometers, model 8905R-P-DS LCD in the tower of my boat. I used Belden, twisted pair, shielded 16 guage wire for the signal wire. The tachometers work great and are very accurate. I have power supply running from 12V power panel in the tower with toggle switches and fuses, so I can turn them on and off. They are not wired to the ignition switch. The problem is I’m getting a lot of noise on my VHF radi…

January 7, 2019 at 8:30 pm Rob: Thanks for the info and the diagram. Now only have to decide whether I need the shielded cable. As for the LED, thanks, yes on the fly bridge it will have to be LCD for sure as I only operate in the day light. I am also looking at installing the ISSPRO R609 Turbocators on the fly bridge. As an old gas man my diesel learning curve is steep and question keep arising. My next issue will be bleeding especially when I am changing fuel fi…

    • Replacement Tach for Yanmar

This topic has 9 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byBob Waters 5 years ago

February 5, 2017 at 3:15 pm Hi Tony, I phototached my Yanmar tachs yesterday. The engines are 4LHA-DTE- 200 hp. At 3,000 rpm, port read 2846 and the Starboard was at 2853. I want to replace with accurate tachs. I have a tower that does not have tachs so I want to add 2 sets. One set for both stations. I need recommendations for tachs and sensors. I guess I need to replace the sensor on each engine, but can one sensor support two tachs? I also did the no load test and the W…

April 12, 2018 at 11:12 am Hello All, I had my propellers checked, repaired and balanced at Wilmington Propellers in Jan, 2016. The report said the propellers were 2″ off. I’m having a hard time interpreting the report for each prop. The Propellers are Michigan Hy-Torq, 18X24, 4 blade, #7 cup, 1 3/8 bore. The engines are Yanmar 4LHA-DTE @ 200 HP. The gears are ZF 450 A, 2.0 reduction. The boat is a Henriques 28 Express. The factory Tachs read about 150 high a…

May 21, 2018 at 4:32 pm Bill, The boost hit about 28 when I pegged the throttle and then dropped down to 23 to 25 psi. I’m used to the boost numbers for the 230/240 STP engine, in which boost was 30+ at WOT and 18/19 at 3,000. Thanks, Bob

    • SB Mar, Dual Engine Boost Gauge

This topic has 4 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated byBob Waters 6 years ago

April 27, 2018 at 6:07 pm I bought the above mentioned gauge. Couple of questions. 1- The pressure ports are marked R and F. Which is for Port and Starboard? 2- Can I mount the gauge on a horizontal surface or does it need to be vertical? I have a spot on the dash, near the helm in which the previous owner mounted a portable GPS and he took it with him. I have 3 holes in the location. Putting the boost gauge here would eliminate these holes. It will be easy to read. I d…
