I have a 2007 Tiara with ZF 311 A Electronic controlled transmissions with Glendenning electronic shifters.

I was out today at idle speed and had the shifter in sync mode and controlling the engines with 1 lever. I had to slow down so I pulled the right lever to neutral which will usually put’s both transmissions in neutral but it kept the port trans engaged and I cannot get the port trans out of gear now?

I shifted to back up controls and the same thing. I tried to put the port into reverse and the engine immediately shuts down because it’s in reverse and forward at the same time. If I shut the engines down, as soon as the port engine starts it takes off because it has never come out of gear. Any help out there???

I tried to call ZF from the numbers in my owner’s manual, but none of the numbers seem to be any good. Any help from ZF or anyone that reads this post, please give me a call. Thanks Richard Geczi 757-472-9944 Osprey Florida

Richard Geczi Day 2 ZF 311A Trans Stuck in gear

Tony So the Gear is in fact locked up. This gear is not that easy to get out. Limited room and must come out through the floor drop down hatch. 42 Tiara Open and the floor does not lift. Gear weighs about 450 lb. So what do you think is a fair price to R&R the transmission and rebuild it. I am looking for a standard rebuld and 2 guys 2 days to get it out and 2 days to get it back in. Replacing Coupling assembly and flywheel and new trans cooler and hoses. Gaskets, clutch pack, oil, filter turn key. I would like to know about how much this should cost. Thanks Anyone RjGeczi

Richard Geczi Day 2 ZF 311A Trans Stuck in gear

Day 2 I removed the electronic solenoids and found a small amount of gold metal shavings, I am changing the oil and filter again just as a caution ( only 3 hours on the oil and filter ) I have removed the trans screen and only small amount of particles.

I am going to remove the solenoids from the working trans and try them in the faulty trans and with some luck it may correct the problem.

The reverse solenoid did not have any shaving. The forward solenoid did have gold colored shavings and the oil case strainer screen had some small silver particles only see photos below

Thx Any imput welcome 757-472-9944

Richard Geczi

see new photos So does anyone know what the gold colored shavings are? Is the clutch plates made of this color???

If you are lucky, you have a bad solenoid on that side and it is by-passing oil to the clutch even when non-energized. Swap solenoids and see if the “always engaged” follows it.
