Hi guys, Cummins 480 CE coupled with a ZF 280-1 gearbox, Fully electronically shifted, microcommander controls and cruise command processors. This weekend moving the boat after no issues at all shifting around the fuel dock, we got under way and up to around 2050 rpm, and after about twenty seconds under power there was a noticeable bang, the shaft will not spin, and the controls will not shift into forward or reverse. I have never had an issue whatsoever with the trans….. I know there are solenoids and solenoid coils that control everything, just wondering what I should be looking at to start? Obviously I checked the fluid in the trans it’s full and clean, so I’m assuming something electrically went haywire causing a lock up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks

    Issue found

Hi Tony thanks for the quick response. Had the boat hauled today… no response from the port side after the bang was due to the shaft shearing off behind the strut. Prop gone. Shaft was not spinning at idle speed without the prop obviously. Trans side seems ok, now to deal with the rest of the repairs needed. Thanks for getting back to me as quickly as you did.
