Bill Desmarais.Well, the State says it’s time so I have to replace my excellent 6bta 370 with a tier 3 engine. What engine would be the correct replacement. I have plenty of height but not much width in the engine room. The 370 pushes the boat at 15 knots at 2400 rpm.Ā
There must be thousands of boats on the water that will need to upgrade from Tier I to Tier III.

Yep, all good comments. California has decided that Charter vessels (and others) are producing too much emissions so it’s upgrade or get out of the business. This is not new and has been going on for quite a while but the deadlines are approaching and I’ll have to put up or sell the boat. There have been grant funds available but like all grants there are strings attached. I have until the end of next year so I’m starting to make plans.
Canāt you Ā just buy a 370 reman to get around the tier 3?
I’m intrigued the state can force you to update an older boat to have a teir 3 engine.
Since the QSB5.9 is only teir 2, looks like you’ll need to go to a QSB6.7. Dimensions are all available on this site.
