I hadn’t posted this earlier as I wanted to try some troubleshooting first. I installed a new Quantum DD aand immediately has the WIF Alarm sound. This unit is replacing a Racor 1000MA with WIF and never alarmed in my 6 previous seasons of ownership.

    Engine: 2005 QSC – 500
    Diesel View: version 1

I first disconnect the WIF harness from the FS19596 and the alarm horn stopped, but the Diesel View settings still showed “428 Sensor WIF High” and the alarm bell flashes, but no buzzer. I also drained both filters and to the eye there is zero water seen.

With all power off, I let the boat sit overnight, launched the boat and ran two hours to my slip. The Diesel View still showed the previous alarm and flashing indicator even though the harness was still unplugged.

Fast forward and have run the boat two more hours harness unplugged.

Today with the WIF harness still unplugged to the filter on the DD and engine running, I took a spare FS19596 & plugged the harness into it and with it just lying on deck with no fuel passing through it the alarm sounded.

I’m completely stumped .. any ideas out there on what’s going on and how to clear the alarm in the Diesel View?

    Resistor for WIF

Tony, Here are the pictures that I took of the resistor loop.

To neaten things up, I moved the resistor loop from being plugged directly into the fuel filter and plugged it into the other end of the Double Double harness where it connects to the main QSC WIF plug behind the aftercooler. Still, no more alarm.

    Thank you team Seaboard!

Good morning, I am having the same problem. Is there a part number you could send is I can order those jumper wires? I am still using the Racor filters not sure if that matters. My motors are also QSC 8.3 they are 2006. This is especially a problem for me. As I am the fuel guy for most of the marina. I know the quality of the fuel. There is no water. It comes out of my truck and right into the boat. Thanks George

Corey sent me a short wire bundle with the resistor in the middle. The bundle plugs into either end of the WIF harness provided with the Quantum Double, Double and then to either the on engine WIF plug or the WIF plug on the Fleetguard filter. I went with the quick test and plugged the bundle into the Fleetguard filter and then to the provided harness. I’ll snap a picture of the bundle and post over the weekend.

Never got to see what Corey sent you. Got a pic? Not sure what he came up with..

About 2004-2006 when the early ECM’s were “all over the place on this particular calibration, I was making full length harnesses with this extra resistor built-in.

Had me scratching my head for quite awhile as some would and some would not need it..

Thanks Corey and Tony .. the inline resistor arrived today and solved the fault and no more alarms.

Thanks again for jumping right on this with me and solving the software compatibility issue. I really love the Double, Double Quantum filtration. You guys are the best!

Kevin, I’ll be sending you out an in-line resistor today to help remove the false alarms.

    Thanks, Corey

    WIF senso–Early Dieselview software

Your problem is the early software in the ECM.. Corey will send you a resistor to put in line. I ran into this a few times with the early Mercury Smart Crap systems..
