Trying to assist a friend here with a Riviera 33 with 6BTA’s backed by MG5050A in a believe, 1.5:1 ratio.

Diagnosis: Gearbox is in Fwd gear even when shifter is in Neutral. Move shift lever to Reverse instantly stalls engine.

    Oil filthy black with metal.

Anyone had this issue before that can shed some light on it before we get the transmission out? Likely repairable or do we feel, likely a write off?

If a replacement is needed, anyone with a recommendation as to where to source a good unit? Would like to get that ball rolling now if possible.

Alternatively, it’s crossed my mind that it MAY be worth considering a ZF 220A if the mounting specs match – they seem more common and possibly cheaper?

Might be best if I contact Corey for a price for 1 or a pair of 220A then.

The MG5050A is a “loosing” proposition–Zero support..Ā  The ZF220A has been around for decades and is still a veryĀ  high production gear..
