I have noticed some advocate removal of the four rubber vanes that run the length of the aftercooler core.

Does anyone know why this practice is recommended?

    Aftercooler Silicone "air bypass" strips

Just an IMO——Silicone strips on aftercooler cores… — Just a “dream” that does not work in field service .. That is what matters, not what’s in the paper engineering and what could happen in a test cell environment under very controlled conditions…………

    Thanks

I can agree with your comments. First time servicing AC core so your comment is much appreciated.

Next to impossible to get the core back in with the rubber strips and performance of the aftercooler is no affected by removal. Matter of fact some could argue that it keeps internal moisture and corrosion down by allowing any condensation that forms to freely escape.
