Hi I have a 28 Albemarle with a single KAD 300 and DPG with jackshaft and the engine requires rebuild. An obvious choice to repower would be a D6 with new drive.
Would a Cummins Recon QSB 5.9 be made to work easily as an alternative? … or?
    Thanks.

Cummins motors eat Volvo outdrive s for breakfast, lunch, an dinner.
Too few revs and way too much torque make it a bad combination.
Even with Volvo engine-Volvo outdrive combinations they do not hold up well when used hard.
If youā€™re dead set on Cummins power, a V-drive or straight shaft configuration might be preferable to stern drive.

Konrad, as outdrives go are good but expensive………………. But they will work well with the Cummins products thru the QSB 400-ish engines if tired of the Volvo engines/drives..

Seems that I will need to upgrade to DPH or DPI with a D6 anyway.
Perhaps a Cummins with a Konrad may be a solution.
Have no idea about Konrad drives.

Maybe or mayde not would a Cummins product work for you….HP is not the issue, it’s the RPM you need to run at current to get your desired cruise speed……..Basically a 370 Diamond, set up right can run at 2600-2800 RPM and I’m not sure it that will make you fast enough.. ……..Your D-6 likes to cruise at 2800-3200 RPM.. Sure you can add more prop, but then, will the outdrive hold up?
