    Cummins 6BTA-5.9, mfg 1998.
I am removing the fuel cooler and fuel block and am following the video provided by SB Marine. Moving the oil pressure sender seems pretty simple but unlike the video with one sender, I have an additional sensor. I think I spotted two hex head plugs, in the area where I would relocate the sender. My question is, are these two ports equal and is this where I need to place the second sensor?
I am not at the boat now so cannot provide photos, but will if requested.

    Rob,

Thanks, I confirmed I have 1/8″ npt but only 2 gallery ports both tucked up behind the RW pump and stop solenoid.

If I cant get to those easily (thinking I cannot), any issue wiring the alarm sender to the top of the oil filter housing?Ā

    TY

J, put your ESN into QSOL and goto the “Cylinder Block” page, it shows the plugs and threads

    CPL 1928 (denso pump 315)

    Adding SMX oil alarm senderĀ

I canā€™t get to the oil gallery port Rob used in his redundant alarms article because my shuttoff solenoid is in the wayĀ

I can see about grabbing one of the oil gallery ports further aftā€¦would mine be 1/8ā€ npt or M10? I have the npt to metric adapterā€¦ Iā€™m circa 1994ā€¦donā€™t want to mangle the threads in the block so want to be sure what Iā€™ve got.

Worst case I can always put the alarm sender atop the oil filter housing ā€” I know thatā€™s 1/8ā€npt.

    Thanks allĀ

Later STORM blocks are M10 x 1.0– I think the change was about 1994-ish, but not 100% sure.

    Early blocks are 1/8″ NPT

All the “taps” on the oil filter heads are 1/8″ NPT

Paul, no it’s oring M10 x 1.0. You’ll need this adapter to goto 1/8″ npt.

And the larger galley port is M14 x 1.5.

    Looks like a good project

I was going to just use a T off my sender’s port (on the common block) but looks like using the gallery ports would be even easier for my manual gauge … what’s their threading? is it 1/8 NPT like the port on the common block?

That larger plug on the pump side towards the back of the engine is M14 thread. Do be mindful of access and clearance for switches and senders at the different oil galley ports once all is back together,

Thank you very much. You have confirmed my belief that that is the purpose of the for ports. I will proceed to use them and get the fuel supply and return cleaned up, and cooler gone.

Not sure if this helps, but look at the attached pics.. All of these plugs measure the main oil gallery pressure or main engine OIL PRESSURE.. Use any of them to accomplish what you want to do..

I had considered the same method, use the original hose that fed the fuel block. But, I want to clean it all up, deleting as much unneeded hose and connections as possible. That is why I am trying to confirm both plugs to be in the oil galley. There are two M10 plugs and a 3rd slightly larger one further right that all appear to be on the same plane, all in line with the oil galley, I suspect. Let me know if I am missing something here, or what the plugged ports are actually for. Thanks.

Here’s my setup with a couple options. The oil switch for custom alarm setup is in the main oil galley – top red arrow. The oil sender for the dash gauge is on the short hyr hose T’d off at the injection pump supply fitting – bottom red arrow.
