QSM11 ED-1 Display malfunction?

The ED-1 Display Unit for my QSM11 port engine LCD displays When the engine is cranking but characters on the display disappear once the engine starts. It used to work but recently stopped. I don’t know if this a problem with a setting in the display or if it is failing. Any advice from your experience would be appreciated.

Try swapping displays? While at it, double check the very simple plug and wires on the back. Just 4 wires total — The plug just pulls out.
