I’ve been searching for information regarding recommended overhaul intervals for the marine propulsion QSL 9 and have drawn a blank. There is a commercial boat for sale locally powered by QSL 9 405 hp with 12,000 reported hours and no mention of a previous in-frame and/or top end maintenance. I’m trying to understand this engine’s maintenance requirements before I contact the seller. Any info that you guys could provide would be appreciated.

    GK,

Tony has written quite a bit about the QSL. Great engine that can last 30-40K hours if maintained properly, in a good environment and operated reasonably. There will be quite a few things to research and understand about the current installation, maint history and how it was operated. IF it all checks out you can see this could be just getting started.

use the search feature and search QSL and then filter on Author = Tony Athens. Lots to read.
