    Hi Guys,
What is the correct way/ tool to bar over a QSC when doing valve adjustement ect. Is it a big socket on the fuel pump nut?

    Thanks Luke

    Phil,

Yes is is OK, but the problem is the belt tension side is backwards so it only lets you rotate the engine backwards–it sucks, as on the mechanical engines, that really made it easy………………………..Try it and you’ll see what I mean

On the QSC is it ok to use a socket on the alternator pulley if one doesnā€™t have the barring tool? If so, which way do you go? Clockwise or counter clockwise?

The correct way would be to being able to use a “Cummins barring” tool the fits into the bell housing that you realistically “cannot get to” unless you remove the aftercooler and some other stuff , and then plan your valve adjustment at the same time you service the aftercooler..

Valve adjustment on the QSC is a 5000 hrs deal.. Aftercooler servicing should be when NEW, and then no more than 3 yrs if in salt water in this engine…………If you think about it, you’ll be doing the aftercooler way more than the valves….

So it’s easy to “plan” accordingly .
