I have 2008 vintage QSC’s (24 volt) with approx. 2300 hours. Last year one of my alternators stopped charging. I had it removed and took it to a shop where they bench tested it and said it was working fine. I had it reinstalled without any work being done to it and it worked and has continued to do so until this weekend when I ran the boat and it was not charging.

What might be the cause of this intermittent failure? I can have it rebuilt but I’m not sure what I would be asking them to repair? FYI, no signs of corrosion and wiring/connections appear to be sound.

    Thank you.

It’s pretty obvious you must have “on engine, or, off engine” wiring issues based on what your have posted………….

Why not post some really good pictures showing your engine as installed in the boat–all angles, all perspectives so I can “see” what its living arrangement is..

Let me “see” battery connections. good pics of the back of the alternator, wiring on the back side of the starter and pics of the mag switch, and good pics of the ECM side of the motor..

Do you have a DC power distribution system schematic?

    Start with that..
