Having a hard time getting these hoses air tight after having disconnected them to remove the AC’s. The stainless steel bands are as tight as I can get them (actually worried there is too much tension on them frankly). In anyone’s experience, do these hoses take on a form of their own over time such that upon reconnecting, they just don’t seat exactly as they did before disconnecting. When I get back up to 2000+ RPM, I can feel air jetting out at a couple spots on the perimeter of the outlet hose particularly.

I have a spare set and new clamps, but am just curious. Any tricks of the trade I can apply?

Thanks Tony. The flange connection is air tight and no issues there. Its just the hose connection with those constant torque clamps that is giving me some grief on only the one aftercooler. The other engine, all is good and well. I will fiddle some more with it and apply rectorseal as well which I did not do initially.

As usual, thanks for the tips.

    Tom,

If this connection is where the issue is, then your reassembly work has left room for improvement.. Neither of these connection points have shown to be problematic..

You do have a o-ring between the two flanges, correct?.. Both of these connections run below below coolant temp, so using Rectorseal # 5 on the o-ring and hoses would be a good thing.. Lube the threads on both type of clamps any common oil or a drop of engine oil.

Post a pic of the parts you are referring too.. Typically you have to keep all kinda loose and snug all up at the same time.. You cannot just tighten one end 1st.
