Began noticing a few weeks ago, oil splatter on bilge floor directly below front of port engine. Appears to be a leak from a seal which then gets flung around. Is there a seal or gasket in this area behind the vibration damper? Thanks, Frank

Hello all. Is there a part number and general procedure for this replacement? I also have a weeping leak that I’d like to rectify.

    Thanks
    Tom

Yes, you need to remove the belt and pully (4 bolts I believe). Then you can access the seal case.

    Andre –

I ordered and received the oil seal part and reviewed Cummins install literature. One question: did you need to remove the drive belt to replace the seal?
    Thanks,

    Frank

Thanks Andre. I will track down the part # in the online Cummins manual. Thanks again.

Yes, however when you unscrew the bolts itā€™s easy to get off. No ā€œpullingā€ involved.

    Andre,

Thank you. Do I need to pull the vibration damper pulley to change the seal?

Yes, the main crankshaft seal. I just replaced mine. Easy job as the seal comes with its full encasing.
    Good luck!
