Just received my smx water pump. Do you guys paint these before you install? Or just install as is?

Keep it wet w/ WD and the patina stays away

 

Gasket–Either direction.. Use Rectorseal 5 or grease on the surfaces

I’m thinking the same. The tarnishing doesnt bother me as much as peeling paint does. <br /><br />

As a follow up question, does it matter which way the gasket faces that is between the mating surface of the engine and the pump itself? I noticed there’s a slight ridge in the gasket. <br /><br />
