    Hi just fitted a new genuine altenator to my 6bt engine no45809740. Batteries are 6 years old they have sudenly died since new altenator has been fitted. Any ideas?

    Need a bit more information

     

    What kind of batteries?

    What do you mean by “suddenly died”?

    Why was the alternator replaced?

    What voltages are you seeing at the battery terminals when charging and when not charging?

     

    For ordinary batteries 6 years is not an exceptionally short lifetime.
