I just had these serviced a few months ago. I notice when I run the boat they are pretty warm. End caps are nice and cool. I just don’t remember them being warm on previous trips. Thanks for the intel.

thx. I am really new to the whole diesel thing. Ā But iām a working class dude that has to perform most maintenance on my own. I have already learned tons apologies if my questions are dumb some times. Yes I did skip to the exhaust hose, was just pointing out another area that I dont remember being that warm last season.Ā

Your aftercooler observation should make sense to you, remember the top and bottoms are seawater entry/exit and the cast housing is the air chamber.Ā As to your picture: Now we are looking at a different system – this thread went from intake air to wet exhaust.Ā That black hose is wet exhaust and yes it should be “pretty warm” as you noted …. FYI: Wet exhaust alarms are in the 165F to 180F range.
August 28, 2023 at 11:09 am #153726Rob, take a look. Sorry for late reply been working crazy hours at the fire house.
I had aftercoolers serviced with SBMAR, no performance issued, and no temp issues. I use a IF temp gun and also touch around. Seems like the after cooler case is warm in middle and tops are cool. But this black hose in the pic gets pretty warm?? any thoughts
Thx – Lew

I would estimate the IMT in the 100-140F range but have not measured.
Not sure what you mean as to the exhaust hose where it meets the mixing elbow?
August 17, 2023 at 8:21 pm #153323Thx Rob, any idea what temp I should get with a ir gun? at the after cooler housing and the exhaust hose where it meets mixing elbow? both sides seem way warmer this season but both also feel equal if that makes sense.
Thx – Lew

Has to do with boost levels, maybe you previously ran at lower boosts when you did your housing temp check and this time you were running at high cruise loads.
July 31, 2023 at 7:45 pm #152501Thx Tony, mine looks a little different. I just asked because I remember the whole thing feeling cool and not too warm with my infra red temp gun.
thx again
