My oil filter covers on the transmission do not sit flush with the transmission. One of the covers is leaking oil. (no leak at idle, then after shutdown the fluid seeps out). I also noticed in reservoir that there is a gasket at the base of the fitting over which the filter fits. Is this gasket something that was placed and should be removed? in the replacement filter assembly i only see the gasket that seals the cap and the o-ring that goes between the cover assembly and the top of the filter.

Thanks – the video is great.Ā  When my filter cap didn’t seem to be sitting low enough I wiped up the ATF in the filter area and saw a black ring.Ā  Immediately thought it was an o-ring.Ā  Kind of like when someone changes an engine oil filter only to realize the old filter’s rubber gasket stayed on the block.Ā  Apparently its meant to be there and is a seal. In the first post that does look to be an o-ring rather than the seal.

Does not that video say it all?

It’s good to search and bring up old threads.Ā  What you reference is beyond what is involved with a filter change out.

Hate to bring up an old thread but

Is that an o-ring there?Ā  My 630 felt like it had an o-ring in it down there but seems to be more of a seal between the suction pipe and the rest of the housing.Ā  I went to pull mine out a while ago and it seemed to be fitted in there, not just slid over the tube like an o-ring.Ā  Therefore I looked it up before trying to pry it out. Maybe the OP picture shows an errant o-ring over the seal and my post is irrelevant? Item 1 in my attached pic is what I first thought might be an o-ring there in error.

Scrap that o-ring at the base of the housing, it does not belong there. Your last sentence is correct, see image attached.
