today on a second attempt at a shake down we ran into problem with the port engine a 370b.  After idling out of harbor and getting up on plan she ran fine at 2600rpm for about ten minutes and then lost power and motor stalled.  If seemed like lose of fuel.  Tried to restart and nothing.  Tried again with the throttle full and she started but it was short lived and wouldn’t start again.    Any idea  what’s going on?

Before the fuel issue we did have an issue with the hose from after cooler to the turbo blow off due to a loose clamp.  The happened as soon as we left pushed the throttles up I heard a pop pull the throttles back immediately and shutdown   Checked everything and didn’t see anything so tried again and this time saw black smoke right away and shutdown and went back to the dock.   That’s when I found the loose hose.   Put back together and everything seemed fine.

The fuel filters after less than hour on them.  Aftercooler, heat exchangers and oil cooler were just reinstalled after servicing.

I did find a gauge on the fuel filters has diesel fuel in it.

Just pull the gauge and plug the hole with a male pipe plug (with RS#5 on the threads) so you can prime and test.  Should be 1/8″npt for a rear mount gauge (1/4″npt for top mount gauges)

    Flooded Gauge

I’m confused by the gauge also.     I squeezed the primer bulb, it wasn’t stiff and more fuel filled the gauge and squirted out the rubber vent on the top of the gauge.   Do you think it’s possible air is getting sucked in the line through the gauge vent.   I’m ordering a new one day but trying to figure out all possibilities of why the motor won’t fire over.

    Flooded Gauge ??

I’ve never seen or heard of a flooded gauge like that.  I’d start there…
