    I have the kit to change my gaskets at the end of the heat exchanger on my CPL 2208 6BTA 5.9 Mk3 370 hp. The diagram attached shows a sequence for the gasket and a round small doughnut that is incorrect. Note 38,39, 40 and 41 referenced in the diagram

    What is the proper sequence – the metal end cap, rubber gasket, and rubber doughnut?

    …so the gum washer goes just like in your picture, between the cap and the gasket, correct?

    Yeah that exploded view is not in the proper sequence…..The small gum washer goes inside the cap.

    While you have the cap off, check that it has not become flattened over time:
