In in the process of cleaning and testing the gear oil cooler on my 2002 Cummins 6BTA 5.9 370 engine. The cooler in the picture may be from SBMAR but I don’t know.

What are the consequences of dezincification in a gear cooler?

How can I tell if dezincification has occurred?

    Yes there are zincs.

Sorry for the confusion… There is a place for two zincs. In the picture there is a modified zinc plug holding a shrader valve and the other one has a pressure testing port.

    Testing an gear oil cooler

Do you have a leak at 100-125 PSI?

It’s yes or no — Nothing in-beween.   Exaclty why it leaks does not matter.

It does not look like a cooler we supplied as it has no provisions for zincs.
