I am soon to have a new QSB 6.7 and want to flush it with fresh water whenever possible.  Should I change to aluminum anodes instead of zinc?  I hear people speak of zinc developing a coating in fresh water and becoming ineffective.

Thanks Rob!  That adds some clarity to the problem.  Since it is a new engine I will monitor it closely.

With our temperate winter weather I don’t see it being laid up more than a couple of months a year.  It will always be in the water but I won’t leave salt water in it.

Zinc is good for brackish water so start there and monitor them.  When I pull my zincs after 6 months on the hard sitting with a freshwater/non-tox mix they do have some white build up but that is a different scenario than what yours will be subjected to.  Only way to know is to do what you do and monitor over time and see.
