After replacing the Zeus trim tab rams 4 months / 80Nm ago the Joystick has suddenly stopped working whilst maneuvering

Local Cummins cannot help as no diagnostic software and the Mercury guys are booked out for two months and also have never seen a Zeus pod drive

Joystick internals – PCB Broken off

    Found the cause

To access inside joystick remove cover disk on top of joystick then 2 screws to remove handle

Small PCB on top of joystick assembly had broken off – possibly from tension in cables running up to it through centre of assembly

Zeus Joystick – possible repair Service

I have had my joystick replaced – $5300 AUD part alone!

There is apparently an engineer here who may be able to repair them

I will drop mine off as I am considering installing it as second joystick at rear of boat if I can work out the requirements

Yacht controller currently don’t have parts needed for Zeus boats and Dockmate are very expensive .. more than $6000 more than Yacht controller.Ā

    Will keep you posted

    Had same fault

Approached Mercury Europe and said could not be repaired – seems crazy as tech inside cannot be that difficult – new one was not cheap!! Same thing though – working one day not the next….did consider buying a PS5 joystick instead!

    Zeus Joystick replaced

Cummins Adelaide came through …… they sourced a new “test” joystick [last one in Australia apparently

It worked instantly .. problem solved …. I now just have to pay for it.

I am now looking at cost of repair of old joystick and using as second helm at rear of boat v installing Dockmate system

I do have a camera which is great but still hard to control boat in windy alone facing forwardĀ

Many thanks to Josh and Aiden from Cummins Adelaide for all their help

Agree. Call Rudi or Dave R at Cummins Service in Brisbane. They are excellent.

I would suggest you tell your local Cummins service people to contact Cummins Carole Park in Brisbane as they have a wealth of knowledge in commissioning and servicing Zeus drives.Ā  They should be able to point them in the right direction.
