Fellas I need a little assistance. I ordered the Super 26’s from here

    https://www.sbmar.com/product/super-26-impeller-cummins-qsc/

and in great anticipation of changing them today, I took the cover plate off one pump and I was surprised to see they do not look the same. The ones I have currently are threaded. Good news is, all splines were all intact. Anyone know what’s up? I’m including pics of my current impellers and pump housing.

Thanks Phil, I considered pulling it. I’m going to go pick up a 25 cent bolt at home depot. I plan on spraying some Kroil on it and bump the engine once or twice to loosen it up. I also have some Metalube on hand so plan to use that on the new ones. It was the threads that through me off when I saw them. It all makes sense now. This forum and you guys have been a life saver and have saved tons of $$$ doing this stuff myself. Thanks guys!

Or you can just grab the thing with pliers and pull…. sometimes you get lucky and the previous installer used grease on the splines.

Highly recommend once itā€™s out before you reinstall you grease the splines and use some sort of water soluble lubricant on the new impeller vanes – dish soap, WD-40, KY… it all works and makes the job that much easier getting the new one in and seated correctly.

Now this makes all kinds of sense. 3/4 – 16.

Thanks Rob! After searching images on the web that’s kind of what I was thinking. I didn’t want to try pulling it out and have the wrong replacement. A special thanks as you answered my next question which was the 3/4 fine thread. I’ll be doing this today. Much appreciated!

    Different face only

Hi, I belive the difference between the two is the origional Sherwood is threaded with 3/4 fine to help extract the old impeller. The replacement from seaboard has a dog cast into the face to allow a purpose built puller to enguage with these dogs and remove the impeller.

The splines which should be the same on each impeller.
