Shot in the dark – thanks in advance. I’m not a mechanic.
    model 12 5 MDL3A 31150A, serial A890 200 886

Symptoms – Will not shut down: stop switch / emergency switch, remote panel. Fuel must be cut in ER.

    Data –
Generator runs properly. Oil, temp & voltage OK. AC voltage OK in all load conditions. There is minor RPM hunting when larger loads [heat pump/AC] are imposed.
Throttle lever can be moved 1-2mm between hard stops with engine off. I did not check when engine was running.
With battery power to the generator 0 volts across fuel shutoff solenoid contacts
With preheat on 0.13 volts across contacts
With engine start 8.5volts across contacts which builds to 12.5v as engine starts
With engine Stop or Emergency Stop voltage across contacts is 0. RPM drops. AC voltage drops to ~90v. Engine continues to run.

With engine off disconnect 12v+ lead from solenoid contact. Impose 12v+ directly to contact. Can hear solenoid engage and disengage. Does not sound like a “clunk”. Sounds more like a “chirp”. When connecting/disconnecting I can feel the throttle lever bump. Throttle lever can only be moved 1-2mm between hard stops.

    Resistance measures 4ohms.

Is the solenoid bad or is the linkage jammed up…..

I’m on a mooring and do not want to take this apart without a degree of confidence I can fix it. Plus – the solenoid is $300+

1989 freshwater. 1500 hours. Otherwise working perfectly.

Injector pump is Stanadyne model DB2-4323, RPM 1800, serial # 6282566, Nameplate part # 147-0101-03 but OEM parts manual shows 147-0461-03.

Since my original post the gen will now shut down w/ Stop switch. Perhaps exercising the solenoid as I noted above freed up some gunk.

It *looks* like the top part of the pump is field serviceable [but I’m no mechanic] without removing the pump. And I think I’ve sourced the solenoid for about $70 and am considering giving this a try and cleaning any gunk from the linkage.

    Does this sound reasonable?
