I’d like to confirm oil pressure with a mechanical gauge on my 6BTA 330’s, and maybe leave the gauge(s) in place as a back up. The preferred hook up on top of the oil filter head is only doable with a 90 degree elbow since the heat exchanger is in the way. Of course, a tight fitting has the elbow pointed toward the block. Any way to get the elbow pointed the right way without over torquing or is there an easier place to tap into oil pressure. Thx, Bruce

Alternative OP Port on any B series engine

Attached is pic of an alternative, but great place to get accurate Oil Pressure–1/8″ NPT..

Great info, thank you. Oil pressure has always been within limits but port generally 8-10 psi lower than stbd. Just want to check accuracy.

A STORM fitting = “straight thread O-Ring metric”

If yours are STORM, you’ll need an adapter to go to 1/8″ NPT, we have them at the link below:

OK, thx. I’ve got the combo blocks with oil switch and sender on the face, so I should be able to use the 1/8 NPT on the side. Pardon my ignorance, where exactly is the oil gallery and port, and what is a STORM port?

Do your engines still have the combo blocks installed? Probably the easiest & safest.

If not, you can always go direct into the block on the main oil gallery… just need to know if you have native 1/8″ NPT ports or the later STORM ports.
