I took those pics that Tony posted.   Oddly enough those 370’s maintained 185 deg F at full load but the owner admitted he had no idea as to any seawater servicing whatsoever…..he simply said “hey if it ain’t broke why fix it.” —- What a shocker……..When I pointed out those hoses his eyes popped out more than the hoses!  So I asked him when was the last time he took a ride in his engine room at cruise speed and he said never.

Moral of the story – engine room checks at the dock are important but so is owning a pair of safety ear muffs and checking all while underway..

Here’s the deal………..Plenty of the factory hoses you are looking at have failed, no doubt.  But ask yourself why?

100% because the seawater system is clogged from lack of proper service causing excessive water flow restriction making the hoses swell to excessive pressure and fail…………………So, you buy a hose that can handle these excessive pressures?

    Is that the right answer?

Signs of a clogged raw water cooling system
