Hello, I was just changing the raw water impeller and whilst checking for raw water leaks I noticed a diesel leak coming from the bottom of the injector pump, is this something I can fix myself ? Or does it require someone with more than basic skills? I’m guessing it has been leaking for some time, as I have always had a small amount of diesel in the bilge and thought it was coming from a leaking racor, cheers Ian

Thanks Tony, It appears to be leaking from the nut with the yellow paint on it, at 2000rpm there is 1 drip every 21 seconds. am I able to tighten that nut will the yellow strip on without screwing up any pump settings?

    cheers Ian

I cannot tell anything from the pic other than it appears the pump has been replaced..

I have seen a few nit-pic leaks from a few places on these pumps over the years and all have been easy to deal with by tracing down the exact source and re-tightening where the leak is..

If the leak is on the high pressure side ( an injector line or delivery valve), then I typical loosen & tighten, loosen & tighten a few times to re-seat the “metal to metal” seal area and then get it extra tight the last time..

Nothing scary but you do need the right tools as things as tight to work on in that area ..

    Tony
