I was checking the oil on my 6BT 210 CPL0742 starboard engine and the dipstick snapped at the lower mark.

The full length dipstick is 37″ long (940mm) I tried to put a taper where the dipstick snapped off as it shows the low and full marks but it is getting stuck, im guessing on a lip where the tube enters the block. I checked the part number on the cummins site 3907012 but it does not tell me the length (it shows the same part number for the port engine that has a longer dipstick) Im looking for ideas on how to fix this, should I get the broken part brazed back on?

    Cheers Ian

We can get you the new dip stick if it is not available locally (we probably have it in stock) ……Otherwise you will have to improvise as best you can..

Only problem with trimming one down it will still get stuck as it needs the ball thingy on the end

I would buy a new dipstick and trim it to the length you need.
