    Hi Rob,
Thanks for the reply. I figured that was the case, but I figured I’d check with the experts. You guys have been a great help with my Whaler, and I try to buy as much from Seaboard Marine as I can.

    Tony,
Thanks for the reply. The attachment says it all – It looks like the VDO is high reistance at high oil PSI and the Faria is the opposite. Not sure what the signal to the alarm board needs to be – minimum voltage or resisatance to ground , etc. Can you see any issues with the correct signal getting to the alarm board for the engine, if I change the sending unit? Faria / Beede sell sending units, but not sure if the signal from it will cause issues with the board.

Thanks for the replies! One of the “knowledgeable” guys was the same mechanic that serviced the boat for the previous owner. He never serviced the aftercoolers or transmission coolers, which I found were about ready to destroy the engines if not taken care of, so that’s why I thought I’d ask the experts. I design hydraulic systems for a living, and I preach filtration to all of my customers. It was one of the first things on my to-do list for upgrades on the boat. Not being a seasoned diesel mechanic, I thought it best to ask, before causing more issues.

    Thanks again for the info

    Hi Corey,
Thanks for the reply. I figured that it had to be something more complicated than a normally open contact, but it never hurts to ask. I may play around with the old Racor sensors, once I remove the old filter system, and see if I can figure it out. If I do, I’ll post my findings here.

    Thanks again!

    Thanks, Rob,
I’m building a new panel with Faria Kronos gauges, and I don’t believe that they use dip switches. They have a small LCD readout on the gauge face for calibration. Still a work in process – just picked up the boat this fall. I told the former owner if he ever wanted to sell it, I’d buy it, and he called about 2 months ago and said he was selling. I spent some time on the boat out in rough water with him, and I was impressed at how well it handled it. I’m just getting started with it, but I’ll post pictures as I get things done. I am planning to add the priming bulb circuit on the fuel filter modification. The exhaust is stock….. for now, but it ‘s on the list.

    Thanks again for the info!

    Lars
