December 9, 2021 at 1:47 pm I own a 2006 Tiara 42 Open with QSM11’s This summer the starboard engine was running a little rough at idle as I was flushing the engines after a 3 day trip. The temp on both engines is running 159 159 very steady all summer. I have propped the boat down 3 two years ago. I asked my mechanic to check it out and he said it was the injectors and it will run fine for a while but I should maybe consider replacing them this winter and now win…

December 11, 2021 at 2:46 pm I had an issue 6 years back with water in fuel, if one goes, they all go. You either pull them all and then make a rebuild versus buy new decision. Zero sense on just servicing one or twoā€¦

March 8, 2021 at 10:56 am I recently had trouble with low voltage while under way causing my Radar to shut down. It has a 24 volt converter for it and draws 5 amps. The screen was showing 11.9 volts at the electronics screen. While underway. Tested the alternators Port was 14.2 and Starboard was 13.4. The port alternator is newer. The starboard alternator charges the house bank which the electronics are connected to. Should I replace the starboard alternator? Batteries l…

March 19, 2021 at 5:31 am Without a DC power distribution diagram that shows all that you have, it really impossible to say what may be going on.. If you are not monitoring Battery Terminal voltage at the helm. it’s doubly impossible. Installing Digital Volt Meters (DVM) on Your Boat On the surface, maybe it’s you “converter” ??

September 27, 2020 at 5:39 pm Clark, You have somehow picked up 3 unbelievable sharp guys to work with you.. There is nothing I could add other than maybe make two simple diagrams.. Top view showing the general layout with approx. lengths and ID’s of all, and a side view showing the elevations the the tank level in relation to the off-engine filters and the filter on the engine Filter..

December 31, 2019 at 2:23 pm Just finished with bench service on all of my coolers and heat ex changers. $$$ Meet a guy with twin 3208’s and he showed me his design of his fresh water flush system. He said he was a maintenance engineer for NASA. When he pulls into his slip after a run he just connects his boat up to the fresh water supply at the dock with the hose. Inside the engine room he has connected two lines to the fresh water system that run to a solenoid …

November 25, 2019 at 8:03 pm Please take a look at the 2 pics of my Turbo’s and let me know what you think caused the damage shown on the intake blades. The starboard is much worse than the Port. There is a movement in the shafts as well. Engine hours are 1632. There is no physical damage to the exhaust side but a discoloration a copper brown.

November 27, 2019 at 1:10 pm Clark, let’s hope the prop pitch reduction resolves the exhaust leak issue… sure sounds like it will… for sure you’re heading in the right direction. The fuel burn numbers on sea trial will tell the story. I would recommend that you replace the Cummins OEM air filters with something aftermarket that’s much easier to maintain and is less expensive long-term. Also, as a part of the engine assessment & revamping&#…

November 15, 2019 at 3:43 pm I have a Tiara 42 Open with QSM11-M 660 2006. 1650 hours . I just purchased the boat and we are replacing the manifolds and servicing the after coolers now. I have run an RPM WOT through all of the RPM’s 100. The boat is over propped and burning too much fuel in the cruse range 1900-2100. My prop man Willmington’s in LA says that 1inch of pitch reduction will bring about 90 RPM per inch. I told him I need to reduce the fuel b…
