My gauge on my smx single remote fuel filter is bouncing quite a bit while the engine is running. I recently replaced the fuel filter and took all of the fittings apart for my primer ball setup because they were leaking at the connections. I lathered them up in tru blu sealant and put it all back together. Maybe I put too much causing fuel intake issues? Engine runs fine just want to get it to where the gauge runs steady so I can tell when itā€™s time to change the filter.Ā

I have a video of it but the forum wonā€™t allow it to be uploaded Ā

Rotate the tiny screw in the middle of the knob 1/4 Turn CCW, that will tighten the RED needle some.. The vibration from the fuel pulsations is “vibrating” it up.Ā If it needs more, do it again–1/4 turn at a time

Ran the boat at varying RPMs tonight and the gauge would settle in once the engine is under load. The black needle barely moved from zero which is what I would expect considering it is a fairly new filter. So my question is how is the red needle getting moved so high up on the gauge?

That link is good.Ā Is the center shaft moving with the needle?Ā Could the needle be loose on the shaft?Ā Does it smooth out when you raise the rpm’s?

Video is “private”. You need to change the setting on YouTube.

Hopefully this works. I believe itā€™s a new issue as the red indicator always ran true. I just replaced the filter recently so I know the filter isnā€™t as clogged as itā€™s showing.Ā

When I bump up the rpmā€™s itā€™s still bouncing but not quite as bad but the indicator stays low on the gauge so I know that the red indicator is getting thrown off.Ā

    How much bouncing?

Mine has always floated a bit at idle but goes ā€œfirmā€ once you bump RPMs up a bitĀ

Post the video on YouTube and then post the link here

Is this a new issue? Is the liquid fill still in the gauge?Ā Does this happen at all rpm’s?
