    Hi. 6 BTA 370. CPL 2208

Always runs like a top and starts right up at first application of the key.

However today after relaunch from getting some bottom work done it started up just fine and ran fine.
But after I refuled at the Marina the Starboard engine would not start. No solenoid click or starter engagement. Motored out a ways on the Port eng to anchor up and look this over.

Checked voltage at key switch terminals, and worked my way back to the engine compartment to check connections and harness.

Found it to restart normally after pressing in the 10 AMP breaker near the aftercooler.

Started/shutdown/restarted several times with no issues.

What are likely causes for tripping the breaker?

    Thanks Tony

Iā€™m going to have to scratch my head a little further. My boat is of 1965 vintage that was repowered several times over the years and last with these 6BTAā€™s in 2019.
All of the previous engine wiring was stripped out and new harness from the on engine connection forward was replaced with new from Seaboard However the one circuit not used with the Cummins floor plan was the red wire to the key switch and the purple feed to the Fuel shutoff solenoid.
The red wire from the Fuse/breaker in question doesnā€™t go anywhere. It is blocked off at the console area.

The boat has its own key switches and solenoids for the start/run circuit.

The only reason I questioned this fuse/breaker was that after pressing the reset button it allowed the engine to start. Donā€™t know why. Coincidence?

Nothing else was done. Everything has worked well ever since that one incidence.

When I relaunched an hour before I ā€œburpedā€ the dripless shafts and maybe a little water spray got on something. Just a guess.

I havenā€™t looked at the wiring on the fuse/breaker and donā€™t know if itā€™s hookup matches factory specs. Iā€™ll check that.

That IS NOT a starting circuit breaker. It’s the “fuse” that is protecting the positive feed wire up to the helm station/panel and then the IGN back to the engine.. Loose that and nothing works Look underneath it at the connections to be sure all is CLEAN and tight.. Start there. Then pull apart the harness plugs and look for “GREEN”………………. Wiring / harness diagrams are on this web site–Find them an learn your engine wiring.
