Hello. Just wondering how difficult it is to replace the water pumps on QSB 5.9 engines circa 2005 with SMX pumps. The SMX pump says “plug and play”. Can someone explain the replacement process? I’m assuming plug and play means that the existing pulley assembly stays on and the new pump shaft plugs in so to speak?
I am very handy but have never replaced water pumps. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

    just did this.

    take belt off

remove entire pump bracket (4 bolts) keep in mind there are small alignment pins under here so may need to tap on outside of bracket with a mallet to break loose

    swap pump and pulley

    replace

super easy and 100% plug and play

Loosen the tensioner, take 4 bolts off the pulley, remove hose mounts, remove 4 pump mounting bolts. Thatā€™s it.

Take the pump off swap over the pulley and put it on the new pump. I would assume you have the v belt version. one of the easiest pumps out there to change.
