My turbo housing has some corrosion at the outlet but still useable. I want to seal it with something that will minimize leakage at the riser connection. It connects with the v-band and I don’t suspect a lot of leakage but less is more here. See attached pics of exh. turbo and Deangelo riser. I will be sandblasting the flange area to clean it up. I will also need to id the source of the corrosion. I recently got the boat, a Sea Ray 480 MY w/ a pair of QSM11 660hp. And yes I am replacing the manifold gaskets, bolts, spacers and shaving the manifolds. Both engines are leaking exhaust moderately (in my novice Cummins experience). Turbo cartridges are being rebuilt currently.Ā
Is there a sealant that can be used on turbos?
