Trying to remove bottom mounting bolt without  snapping it off. Access is tough and seems to be frozen. Do you think I could get the core out and back in while still mounted? I have tried heat, penetrating oil etc. Anyone ever attempted this? I have been working on the large bolt bottom. There is also a set of smaller bolts on the same bracket which seem to be also stuck

Sounds to me like Nev R Seez was not used.      It does not burn off.    The oil carrier may do that but the metal the carrier carries will be there years later  even in a HOT application.

Get the core out and post pics of all, especially the sealing surfaces at each end of the housing

We purchased the boat last Oct. Records indicate they were done at 565 hrs, she had 620 hrs when purchased. Boat did sit however 2021 season as owner was busy with other projects and decided to sell.  I’ll get this one cleaned up and reinstalled then onto the next. Trying to get a baseline on everything so it I’ll know that its all done. Those two bolts that were giving me a hard time looked really “dry” meaning no anti-seize? Not sure if it just cooks off after awhile? Other bolts looked like they had some at some point.

EDIT: Temps were good on the ride home from LI to Gloucester.

Good deal.  It was clearly due (overdue).  Were you experiencing any temperature creeps? First time aftercooler ever serviced?  What year was the engine put into service?

Apparently I’m not as strong as my wife thinks I am! Had to call in the big guns, and he was able to get it out. On a side note, I was able to remove the core from the housing while it was still on the boat. Not an easy task let me tell ya, but doable.
