    1) Most important is to be sure the engine is propped correctly–100+ RPM over rated with the boat fully loaded

    2) if you are replacing like for like, be sure what ever took out the old engine does not repeat itself on the new installation

    3) To the break- in itself, run easy for at least an hour or two at “wine & cheese” speeds while checking everything a few times

    4) After that, IMO it’s up to you, but checking WOT a few times for a couple of seconds each time is good. Back down slow each time.
