    Wondering what would be acceptable distance for clearance ? I have about 2.5 inches with no blanket , when heat blanket is installed it will be less than 1″. Engine is a QSB  380 cummins .

    As Rob said–Clearance is good–But it is somewhat wrap quality dependent.
