Loud squeal during start up. 6bta 330

I just purchased a 33 tiara Powered by 330 diamonds. We are having a weird starting sound that almost sounds like a hydraulic pump squeal or screeching sound. We also took off the belt to see if the tensioner was causing the sound and no change. I am only getting the noise when the started is engaged. Previous owners had a mechanic inspect flywheel and replace starter and no change. The sound is coming from the back of the engine. Also the oil levels are good and clean and all other maintance has been done. Engines have 650hrs. Any info or idea would be appreciated. <br />Trying to post a video of the sound.

If the noise occurs only when the starter motor is engaged then maybe it is the starter motor.

Likely a bearing on the shaft is failing.   which could allow the armature to shift and contact the inside of the stator.

Have you actually gone down and looked and listened as a helper cranked the starter? Just a couple seconds.

Regardless, pull it and try the test on the bench or just get it rebuilt if indeed the starter turns out to be the culprit.

It has a new smx water pump on it. And the noise is coming from starter area

Maybe the waterpump? impeller or ???
