Lift Pump leak on 6BTA M3

6BTA 370hp M-3, CPL 2008. Manual lift pump is leaking when the thumb plunger is operated but not otherwise (no leak when engine is running and vessel underway). No hard-starting or evidence of air leaks.

What’s the right approach to fixing this please?

Lift Pump O-Rings

Tony or Paul,

I have the same issue. the pump leaks at the plunger. The lift pump plunger came off really easy but I cannot figure out how to disassemble. It looks like it has been pressed together at the factory. Any help is appreciated.

Are you “hands-on” ?

Look at the picture–See that hex?–Remove the lift pump plunger.. Take it apart and you’ll find an O-ring or two.. Take a few pics..Last time I did it was maybe 10 years ago, but nothing was scary dealing with it.
