I’m sure this will be the first of many questions as I go down the road of repowering my 1974 35 Bertram convertible. Basic overview is the boat originally came with  big blocks. then at some point she was repowered with Cat 3208 NAs with aftermarket M&W turbos…. I  run the boat for  charter fishing…but it has come to the point where   I need a little upgrade in speed, fuel economy and Technology. I am repowering Her with twin 6BTA 370s with ZF220As . Finally to The Question….. I want to update the old Perko 498   1 1/4  raw water strainers.  does  the 1 1/4 have  adequate flow for the 370s or do I need to upgrade to 1 1/2 or better?

    Thanks!

No.  Woo is correct, here it is in black & white from Cummins:

The hoses, through hull connection, and sea cock internal diameter should be at least the same diameter as the sea water pump inlet connection. Using the next larger standard internal diameter size is often necessary to stay within inlet restriction limits.

If memory serves me correctly, Cummins calls for 2″, and the raw water pump inlet is also 2″.
